Hannah Montana Star Hits Back Follwing Criticism of Raunchy Tour

Teen sensation Miley Cyrus never seems to be more than a day away from controversy and widespread media attention, with today being no exception. The star of hit show Hannah Montana has attracted criticism for playing the part of a wholesome, religious tourist, less than 24 hours after a rather raunchy performance on stage during a concert in Paraguay.

The singer was snapped by photographers as she and her family visited Rio De Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer statue in order to watch the sunset.Her modest and respectful clothing was noted as starkly contrasting with the image she had portrayed on stage the previous evening, which included the wearing of leather pants, a studded bra and suspenders during the performance. Leaving her clean-cut, ‘all-American’ Hannah Montana persona firmly in the past, it cannot be denied that her current tour has become increasingly explicit.

However, Miley has hit back at the critics, stating that the clothes she wears in no way affect or have any bearing on her devotion to the Christian faith. In her words, Miley indicated that the media is always looking for a reason to question her faith, but Christianity does not mean she cannot fully participate in life.

Needless to say, her raunchy image of late has been less than well received by her younger fans, or indeed their parents. When questioned about her decision not to tour the U.S last month, the singer accepted that America may have reached a point where her popularity is far from its once dizzy heights.
